Put a Hole in the Roof!

When [Jesus] had come back to Capernaum several days afterward, it was heard that He was at home. And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room, not even near the door; and He was speaking the word to them. And they came, bringing to Him a paralytic, carried by four men. Being unable to get to Him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above Him; and when they had dug an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic was lying. And Jesus seeing their faith said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.” (Mark 2:1-5, NASB95)

The four men who brought this paralyzed man to Jesus are inspiring examples for Christians reaching out to lost souls today. They did not have the power to forgive this man’s sins, nor could they heal his physical ailments. Jesus had the power to do both. They had faith in Jesus, and because of their faith, they brought this man to Him.

Modern Christians should be doing the same. No Christian has the power to forgive sins, but every Christian knows the source of salvation: Jesus. Talk to the people who are not yet your brethren and lead them to Christ. Bring them with you to your Bible study times and invite them to worship God with you. If they refuse to come with you, then bring Jesus to them. Let them hear Jesus through your conversations, and let them see Jesus through your actions. Get the people around you to Jesus, one way or another. Their salvation depends on it!
