A Word About Us

We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to the Village Creek Church of Christ, meeting at 2570 Northwest Green Oaks Boulevard, Arlington, Texas 76012. This congregation has existed as the Handley Church of Christ in East Fort Worth since 1905. After careful and prayerful consideration, the elders of the Handley church decided to relocate and become known as the Village Creek Church of Christ.

While the location has changed, the teaching, worship and practice, remain the same. We strive to follow the New Testament as our only guide and authority. Our aim is to us speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. We propose to call Bible things by Bible names and do Bible things in Bible ways. We simply seek to restore the church as it was in the days of the apostles.

Since God had a pattern for Noah’s ark (Genesis 6:22; 7:5); for the Tabernacle (Exodus 25:8-9) and the Temple (1 Chronicles 28:11-19) we believe he also has a pattern for His church. That pattern is found in the New Testament (Ephesians 3: 10-11, 21).

One of the many classic cars of the past is the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air. That car may be restored to its original beauty today by gathering and assembling the parts according to the original design. Just as there is a design or pattern for a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air, there is a design or pattern for the Lord’s church. By following the pattern found in Scripture, the Lord’s church may be restored as it was originally designed.

The pattern of the church, her worship, organization, and plan of salvation are all found on the pages of Holy Writ. We invite you to worship and search the scriptures with us.

Our worship consists of:

  • Singing (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)

  • Praying (Acts 2:42;1 Timothy 2:8)

  • The Lord’s Supper (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 10:16; 11:23-28)

  • Preaching (Acts 2:42; 2 Timothy 4:1-4; Matthew 28:18-20)

  • Giving (1 Corinthians 16:1-2; 2 Corinthians 8:1-5; 9:6-8)

The Village Creek Church of Christ is overseen by four elders (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; Acts 14:23). The church is also served by two deacons who work under the elder’s oversight (1Timothy 3:8-13). Eli Schnell, our pulpit minister has been with us since November 18, 2018. He is a 2009 graduate of the Bear Valley Bible Institute of Denver.

The Village Creek Church of Christ preaches the gospel plan of salvation as revealed in the New Testament. The gospel (good news) consists of facts to be believed, commands to be obeyed and promises to be received. The facts of the gospel include the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-9; Acts 2:14-47). The commands of the gospel are to believe, repent and be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38-41; John 8:24; Luke 13:3; Romans 6:1-7). The promises of the gospel are salvation from sin and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38-41; 5:32; Rev. 2:10).

We also offer free Bible Correspondence Courses, in home Bible Studies, and active youth program and free marriage and family counseling. Let us know how we can serve you.
